Course Description:
A practical approach to communication theory, this course enables learners to understand and apply the principles of
communication to organizational encounters. Various strategies for effective communication are provided, including inter- and intra-personal settings. Emphasis is placed on improving communication
performance by applying strategies for enhanced communication.
Course Goals and Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, learners will:
- Assess the key components of interpersonal communication
- Undertake and analyze the results of a personal and organizational communication audit
- Appraise common factors that increase and inhibit interpersonal communication
- Evaluate and properly choose from among various forms of written communication
- Apply communication processes to effective group and organizational leadership
- Compare and contrast commonly held views of power in the workplace
- Determine the use of media to communicate messages
